#142 Father's Day Card

Hi Crafters,

It's easy to make cards when you have a stash of 6x6 patterned paper to choose from, RIGHT.  Well, NO, not if you can't figure out which paper to use. I think I spent 20 minutes pawing through paper - then I end up with a very simple card. I do love the fans on this paper though, great for Dad.

I love the texture of the thicker rope used on the bottom. The die is the coordinating die to the Mama Elephant stamp set "Happy Everything" I die-cut the word happy twice just to make it a little thicker.

Supplies used:
Mama Elephant stamp set "Happy Everything"
Mama Elephant die "Happy" that coordinates with the stamp set Happy Everything
Card base: Stampin UP! Kraft
Patterned Paper: Echo Park "This and That" 6x6 paper pad
Ink: Simon Says Stamp "Dark Chocolate"

Hope you are all have a blessed day .... keep on crafting.

#139 Ombre Stamping

Hi Crafters,

I LOVE LOVE LOVE color, this simple one-layer card is so bright and cheery. Be sure to check out the video below.

Here's the inside of the card. Notice I have smaller width rectangles - the smaller rectangle came from the Simon Says Stamp "Happy & Smile" stamp set.  The sentiment on the inside came from the Simon Says Stamp "Handwritten Greetings" stamp set.

I stamped an envelope as well, but that was before I remembered I had narrower rectangles, it would have been better to use the same stamp on the envelope as I used on the inside. Oh well, it still looks cute. I didn't go all the way across the envelope because I wanted to make sure I had room for the address.  Notice the orange is 'yucky'  it's the way the color looks on the envelope paper. I mentioned in the video that inks behave differently on different papers - WEIRD.
And here is the video - ENJOY

#138 Masking Technique

Hi Crafters,

What a fun and easy technique. I love the look. I learned about this technique from a class I took on Craftsy - check them out; I've learned tons from the craftsy site.

I did the design on the envelope as well. If you do that, be sure to insert a piece of cardstock into the envelope  just in case the ink runs through. I love the design on the envelope almost as much as the card ;-)

Watch the video below for details on how to get the cool design
Supplies Used:
Simon Says Stamp "Happy & Smile" stamp set
Doodlebug Sequins set of 15 colors - love this set (get it at StampinMania.com)
Micropore Tape - best deal is at Amazon.com

Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to seeing you again.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

#135 Just A Note

HI Crafters,

Here's a super cute, easy, and inexpensive card to make. It's a 4x4 note card. The reason it's inexpensive is; the stamp set is only $5 from Papertrey Ink and the Die is only $5 - YEAH.  You can use any colored pencils you have, it doesn't HAVE to be the expense Derwent Inktense Pencils.

I stamped the image twice on watercolor paper. Once for the background image on the main card then again for the piece I want to die-cut out.  What I think is cool is that the extra little black dots around the image on the top and lower right are behind the popped up image that was die-cut out. Meaning, the die cuts the image without including those few dots...which I love. It really adds dimension when pop the image up.

Obviously there isn't a ton of color on this one but I did use several Intense pencils and a water brush to add the color.

Supplies Used:
Derwent Inktense Pencils
Enamel Dots
Corner Chomper
Watercolor Paper

#134 Dazzler Birthday

Hi Crafters,

I will do a video on this card but not today. I'm not feelin' it - ha. Getting out the camera and doing the card again. This card took 4 hours to design and figure out, lots of mess ups while playing with the new Dazzlers. The card isn't hard per se but there were surprisingly a number of supplies used and a new technique.

The second pic is of a slanted view so you can see the shimmer from the Dazzler paste I used. It is soooo shiny and fun. It's a cool product.

The product list is a tad long ;-(  sorry about that. I don't normally use a gazillion items in one card. I just couldn't help myself.

Also, for the KiwiLane templates please visit my Kiwi Lane website to order or email me if you have questions. https://stampinmania.kiwilaneinstructor.com/

Products Used:
Stencil: Hero Arts "Medallion Patterned"
Patterned Paper: Gina K Designs "Made with Love"
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink "Berry Sorbet" and "Hawaiian Shores"; Neenah "Solar White"
Stamps: Papertrey Ink "Sentiment Splits"; Clearly Besotted "Life & Laughter"
Dies:  Lawn Fawn "Sm and Lg Stitched Rectangle sets" ; Clearly Besotted "Life & Laughter dies"
Kiwi Lane: Card template "Adorn"
Inks:  Distress Ink "Peacock Feathers"; Lawn Fawn "Merman";  WPLUS9 "Flamingo"; & Versamark
Dazzlerz: "Coral Me Crazy"
Ink blending tool
Clear Wink of Stella (doesn't show on the pic very well but it is on the flowers that were stamped and die cut out)

Here's a pic of the stencil I used: Sometimes you just need a visual more than just a name
Steps for getting the initial background created using Distress Ink and Dazzlers.
  1. Stencil on a white piece of cardstock cut at 5 1/4 x 4. Stencil using the Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and an Ink Blending tool.
  2. Slide the stencil a little off-center from what you just did and apply the Coral Me Crazy Dazzler paste. You can use a pallet knife, plastic knife, or paint brush.
  3. It will take awhile for the Dazzlers to dry - you can use your heat tool (I did but I still cut it too early in my die cutting machine)
  4. Cut out using the Lawn Fawn largest Stitched Rectangle Die in the Small Rectangle Die set.
I promise to do a video but this should get ya started. I love using stencils and off-setting them to make a shadow look.

Happy Crafting, Have a Blessed Day,

#133 Gelato Hello

Hi Crafters,

How fun, I finally played with my Gelatos today.  The fact that I've had them for like 8 months and hadn't used is irrelevant - ha. They are sooooo easy to use. Well, I'm a newbie so it's not like I have a bunch of tricks up my sleeves, but I will ;-)

I made this card today using watercolor paper (make sure you use GOOD watercolor paper - the cheap stuff sucks).

You'll see in the video I need HELP in the foam squares or whatever it is you all use to pop up small areas, like the Hello in the picture. Man, I was struggling - ha. Please leave me a comment with any suggestions and enlightenment you can give me ;-)

Be sure to check out the video for all the 'how to's"

Supplies Used:
Blick Watercolor Paper
Altenew: Botanical Garden stamp set
Lawn Fawn: Hello die
Lawn Fawn: 12x12 Perfectly Plaid patterned paper
Gelatos  Metallic Melon, Green Tea, Bubble Gum, and Cotton Candy (it's blue)
StazOn: Jet Black
Ribbon scrap ;-)
Paint Brushes (I like using small flat ones for this versus the round brushes)

Paper Cut Sizes:
A2 card base cut for a vertical card
Patterned Paper cut at 5 1/4 x 4 1/8
Watercolor paper cut at 4 7/8 x 3 3/4

Thanks for stopping by.  Please leave me a comment and let me know what ya thought. Also, consider subscribing to my Youtube channel as well as my blog.

Dimensional Paint

Hi Crafters - I'm in love.  I am sure many of you already know about this product, but I just discovered it today at the Scrapbook Expo.  Actually there are two products. Dimensional Paint and Spray. If you are in the Columbus Ohio area and planning on going to the expo tomorrow check out the Technique Junkies booth. That's where I found it.

I bought 12 jars (my FB says 10 but I was wrong, it was 12 ;-) and 4 sprays.  I love it so much I am going back to the expo tomorrow to get all the colors I didn't get today. The paint is not like any paint I've used before, it's thick and when you apply it you can make the color as thick or thin as you want. I did it thick in order to give dimension.

Their sprays are unlike any mist of spray I've used before. It's sooooo easy and not nearly as messy as the mists that go everywhere and at times leave blobs of color.

I was so excited I had to make something tonight but I didn't do a tutorial because I didn't know what I was doing - ha.  Now that I've figured it out watch for a tutorial over the weekend. There are a number of things about these products that you'll need to know.

For those of you NOT going to the expo. I am pretty sure you can purchase these products at TechniqueJunkies.com

The first tag I made is the daisy collage. I think it's my favorite out of the two I did.  You can't see the texture all that great but in person it's awesome. I can't wait to make a card tomorrow using these products.

The second tag I did was this floral one. I took a picture BEFORE I added the background spray then another one after. Leave me a comment and tell me which you prefer. The one WITH the background spray or without.

Lastly, here are the products.....woo hoo....

Thanks so much for stopping by. Leave me a comment and let me know if you've used these products before and which of the tags you liked the best.

Have a blessed day,

#132 Get Well Roses

Hi Crafters,

I just got a super fun die from Papertrey ink. the Triangle Trio Die. It's a cutting plate. Here's what it looks like.

I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of fun things with this die.  Today I just quickly did a card. Often times it's hard to use large scaled images from 12x12 paper on a card, using this cutting plate I think the break in between the pieces was just enough to soften it for a card.

I cut the card base a little larger than a standard A2. The large rose on the button it actually cut out. I cut one out of the same paper to match up. I popped it up with foam squares.  I also colored the large rose with Clear wink of stella. It doesn't show up in the picture but it's nice and sparkly in person ;-)

I added a few pearls  to the center of some of the flowers and I used my go-to Sizzix Phrases Dies for the sentiment.

Leave me a comment and let me know whatcha think ;-)

Supplies Used:
My Story 12x12 "Heirloom Rose" paper
Stampin' UP! Sahara Sand cardstock
Papertrey Ink:  Triangle Trio Die
Simon Says Stamp: Handwritten Greetings stamp set
Sizzix:  Phrases Stamp & Die set (I only used the dies)
Clear Wink of Stella
